Past Trips

AllSwell + Earth Missions partnered with travel-lust magazine Tiny Atlas Quarterly to dream up a five-day, one-of-a-kind excursion to Tofino’s coastal rainforest, close to the world-famous Pacific Rim National Park on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Combining photography, surf and outdoor adventure, the trip was conceived with a live-like-a-local philosophy that included the accommodations, daily activities, meals, focus on planet conservation and active involvement of an area resident who provided access to singular experiences.

The group of travelers was hosted by a group of experts -- photographer and local legend Jeremy Koreski, Emily Nathan of Tiny Atlas Quarterly, Laura Rubin of AllSwell and Earth Missions founder and travel expert Tom Werney – who provided surf, photography and creativity workshops. Designed for those who love the great outdoors and snapping wildlife as much as they love surfing and sunsets, this trip required thicker wetsuits, hiking boots and lots of film.

With individual yurts as our home base, the group:

  • Ate like a local - oysters, a crab boil over an open fire, family-style meals cooked on the beach, and a tasting at local brewery
  • Ventured by boat to a cedar forest island, hiking to naturally occurring hot springs for a dip and followed by lunch in the sun
  • Took a floatplane ride providing everyone with the best aerial views of the rainforest, harbor and surrounding sea
  • Experienced incredible wildlife viewings including a family of bears salmon fishing, bald eagles in their nests, seals sunning themselves on rocks and breaching whales

Check out this little movie we made about the experience:

What folks had to say…

“Everything was incredible on this trip, especially all the people. The day at the beach spent surfing and sitting by a fire, the Zodiac tour around the island where we saw every type of wildlife and hot springs, views from the hydroplane, the boat ride to the float house, all the hiking...I could not have asked for more.”

“This was awesome, more please! Thanks for putting this together, it was incredible.”

“It surpassed my expectations! I would do it again in a heartbeat.”
